I don't know a single person who doesn't deserve to enjoy a completely lazy day now and again. We're such a "do this, go there" society that we often feel guilty for doing nothing constructive.
I don't actually think it's possible to do nothing. In a sense, we're still choosing to relax, so that's something, right? Then there's how we define doing nothing. I've been pretty lazy today, beginning with sleeping a little later than usual and then enjoying time on the porch with the pups. It should be noted that I did the Sunday crossword puzzle and Scrabblegram during that porch sojourn. At the same time, I had a load of laundry running in the washing machine, too. Since then, I went to the supermarket, too. Again, doing stuff on my doing nothing day. Proof positive that relaxing does not mean non-productive.
I plan to do some sequinning today, too. Not exactly a stressful activity on my lazy day.
I took a cooking class earlier in the week and learned to make risotto. Just to make sure that I remember everything I was taught, I'm going to make some tonight all on my own. I really like dishes that call for adding wine. Once the bottle's open, it just makes sense to pour a glass to sip on while stirring.
When I pulled into the driveway after my supermarket run, I noticed that my orange tree has fruit on it! This is the first time and I'm amazed. I thought it was destined to be barren. I had it put in a few years ago when the state lifted the ban on planting new citrus trees and kept my fingers crossed but signs were not good. Talk about non-productive. Today I counted 8 green oranges. Sure they're still small -- not one is even the size of a golf ball -- but they're there and they're growing. I have no idea how long it will take before they're full sized and ripe, but when that happens and I get to pick a delicious orange off of my very own tree, it will be sweet treat for sure!
So how are you enjoying your lazy Sunday? Doing or not-doing anything special?
