It's starting to heat up in the Keys. On our walks, I've noticed that Nat and Pyxi don't care much for the higher temperatures. I decided to help them stay cooler by arranging for the groomer to give them "summer cuts".
Presenting -- nearly nekkid pups!

They look so sleek and pretty. Ok, I know that I'm the most biased dog-mom on the planet, but aren't they adorable? (That's Nat on our left. Pyxi is sprawled out frog-like on the right.)

Snapped this shot when they took a 10 second break from chasing each other around the living room. Two seconds later, Nat gently chomped his sister's foreleg and the race resumed. We call it the Puppy 500.
Nat is usually the better behaved of the two siblings. Pyxi, sweetheart that she is, has a mischief streak three yards wide. I think (I hope) it's a function of her youth, but right now she loves to steal books from shelves and drag them off to destroy. If she can entice me into a game of "Come and get it, Mom!" so much the better, as far as she's concerned. I'm not thrilled that several of my hardcovers now sport chew holes and tooth marks.
I've already "puppy proofed" a lot of the house and removed books from the lower shelves. Pyxi, bless her devious little heart, is a smart pooch. If she wants something, she works for it -- going so far as to climb up on a chair or sofa, balance her paws on the arm and extending her little body as far as possible until she can grab the item in her teeth.
We're working on changing the behavior. I already know she's smart and quickly picks up on things. I can only hope that she decides she likes behaving and leaving the books alone. Wish me luck!
