A Brow Raising Experience

The things you can learn in New York City!  Today at the Novelists, Inc. conference, I attended a dynamite presentation on author development -- a topic I'd never been introduced to before.

Later in the afternoon, Beth Ciotta and I strolled to Borders by Madison Square Garden and then a few blocks further along 7th Avenue.  We passed two shops for something called eyebrow threading.  From across the street, we watched a video.  As far as I can tell, this ancient Indian hair depilation technique looks like a cross between flossing and doing a cat's cradle.

On the other hand, it can't be any more painful than waxing.  I read a couple of articles that said it's effective and they pointed out that it doesn't rip off a layer of skin.

I don't think this technique for hair removal has made it to the Keys yet, have any of you had it done?

3 What's Been Said.

My adorabley wonderful beautian is a crazy kooky little Indian woman that convinced me to do threading instead of waxing. I so would never go back to eyebrow waxing now. I do find that my left eyebrow hurts more than my right because, well, the hairs are getting ripped out so yes it is gonna sting a bit, but not like waxing.
Try it if you get a chance.

I get mine threaded. It does sting but it's a cleaner line and doesn't leave waxing marks. I highly recommend it.

They do it in Miami. Here they mostly just run around looking like Einstein.
